Your Social Media To Do List

Have you established automation and curation of your social media content contributions? Do your blog posts automatically link to your Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook Fan Page status updates? This may be beneficial for eliminating duplicate processes, but if you truly desire to engage your audience, these actions alone are not sufficient.
To help you streamline your efforts, I’ve compiled a short To Do List that will allow for consistent contributions, in a fraction of the time. Each tip has a time limit – it will keep you focused and on track, so that you can get back to all the other activities of the day.

Twitter – (5 minutes)
- Browse through your Twitter feed (use hashtags and keywords) and retweet or reply to a post that interests you, or one that you feel will be beneficial to your followers. Be sure to add your personal touch to the message before posting.
- Reply to any direct messages that you have received. Take note of followers that interest you, they may be potential LinkedIn connections or future guest bloggers.
- Conduct a search for influencers in your industry, and follow the first ten interesting profiles that you come across.
Facebook – (5 minutes)
- Like or comment on someone else’s post.
- Like at least one Facebook Fan Page.
- Update your status. Let people know what you are doing or planning.
- Make one post that links to an article, blog post, or website that you viewed that day. Add a brief comment explaining why the content is relevant. The link should directly relate to you industry, and should be interesting to your FB audience. Be sure not to post your own content – which should already be automated to post on your page.
LinkedIn – (5 minutes)
- Connect with at least one person. This person may be someone that you met that day, or received email correspondence from. If you have trouble identifying a potential connection, consider if there are any old colleagues, friends, or family members that you can reach out to.
- Post an industry related question or answer another members question – in the ‘Answers’ section of the site. Choose questions that you can quickly answer and don’t require an essay-length response. This will allow you to share your knowledge and obtain a ‘warm lead’ for a new connection. Send each person that answers your question, or the person whose question you answered, an invite – but remember to reference the Q & A exchange in your message, or they may not remember who you are.
By following these few steps, in 15 minute intervals, 2-3 times per day, you will be able to grow your network.
