How Sales Can Benefit from Twitter (Requires 35 seconds to read):
Twitter has only been around since 2006, but already it has over 200 million users. Despite the enormous adoption of Twitter, many sales managers tell me that it is a time waster. And let’s be honest. What’s the point of trying to make sense of a stream of consciousness containing updates like the latest celebrity gossip or what a colleague had for lunch? But don’t disregard Twitter entirely. Here are three ways to make it work for your sales effort:
1. Follow Your Customers – many companies these days post news and announcements on Twitter. By following your customer’s tweets, you will get up to the minute updates of what is happening in their world.
2. Create Lists – by creating lists, you can follow specific Twitter users that are experts on a certain topic. This filters out the noise and is a great way to keep abreast of news and events that are relevant to your customer.
3. Interact – even though there are 200 million Twitter users, very few of them actually receive responses to their messages, so if you reply to a tweet, you are likely to catch the author’s attention. This can be great for establishing relationships with thought prospects, partners and thought leaders.
To your success!
