Claim Your Name on Microsoft’s Outlook.com

Claim your name before someone else does!
Hotmail is a goner. Microsoft has just rolled out their new email service called Outlook.com. I’ve written several times before about the importance of claiming your name and control your name and branding online, and this is another opportunity to do just that.Go to Outlook.com and sign up. My recommendation is to use your preferred name that you use on your other social sites like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. Do it now, or someone else will be using your name and/or brand for their Outlook.com email address. Whether you are going to use this at all doesn’t matter. If you ever need to, you will have the opportunity to do so.
Consistency is a valuable tool in controlling your online presence.
Here is an example of how I use my name:- LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/milesaustin
- Twitter: @milesaustin
- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/milesaustin
- Website: http://www.milesaustin.com
- and now Outlook.com email is: milesaustin@outlook.com
There are several other reasons to create an account with Outlook.com, including social media integration platforms, and will write about those in the days ahead.
For now, go claim your name on Outlook.com and rest easier tonight.
Go claim your name!
