6 Best Practices For Email Marketing
6 Best Practices For Email Marketing:from Business 2 Community
Inspired by the recent Email Marketing white paper, we are going to give you the short-form version of the our email marketing insights. These tips are great for those who have not yet begun an email marketing campaign and those who have been managing lists for years.
1. Segment your email lists. Ideas for segmentation include: location, demographic or opt-in sources.
2. Tailor your content to these segments. Creating personalized content that relates to the reader’s interests will increase engagement with your email marketing campaigns.
3. Conduct scheduling tests to find out what time and day is best for engagement.
4. Do an A/B split test for time of day and then subject lines. Maybe emails with a question as the subject get better engagement at 9am and emails with an offer get better engagement on Thursdays. The more testing you conduct, the better your data-driven decisions will be in the future.
5. Benchmark performance after every send in order to best assess which actions to test next round.
6. Always exhibit email transparency. Inform people that they are signing up for your email first. Ensure that links to manage their email preferences are easily found in each email (most people know to look in the footer now). Bonus tip: Offer an option to lessen the frequency of emails users receive to minimize the amount of unsubscribers.
