Let’s cut through all the noise with this one fact: Twitter is an extremely valuable tool for B2B sales reps.
But hold up….it’s not the same as it is with marketers. B2B Sales reps are totally different. So we’re gonna lay it out super easy for you. Here’s 4 steps to making Twitter work for B2B Sales (these all assume you’ve already signed up for an account by the way). Some call it Sales 2.0. We call it being smart and generating revenue:

Step 1. Follow Companies

Take your top 50 prospects and/or clients, search for their Twitter account and follow them with a private list.

Step 2. Follow People

Find your top 50 buyers. Search for their Twitter handles and follow those as well with a private list.

Step 3. Set up daily email alerts

Sign up for Nutshell Mail for free. Follow your private lists and specific keyword terms for buyer triggers. Here’s an in-depth post on how to use Nutshell.

Step 4. Engage

Set aside 20 minutes each day to engage with your client & prospect companies and people. Respond to the results our your search terms in Nutshell.  Review your private list views and connect with your audience. We recommend planning a target number of engaging tweets/week. Something like 20/week would suffice.

Remember: Twitter is not an easy answer, but it is a place where you can listen and connect to your people. Building a presence and thought leadership position takes a long time…but it is worth it. Bite off small chunks weekly and you’ll reap great benefits in the long run.
