10 Commandments for Selling
10 Commandments for Selling: by

We all have some core commandments, whatever they may be, that we try to live by. Here are our 10 commandments (for selling), not 15. If only Mel Brooks had not dropped one of the tablets with the extra five.
1. Have only one goal: quota. There are no other goals above the one true quota.
2. Honor your mentors. Old sales folks have experience and stories with great lessons. Notice, we did not say sales managers.
3. Work Hard! Action is king. Sales folks are like sharks. They need to move or die.
4. Work Smart. It’s not word hard or work smart – you have to do both.
5. People buy from people. So, build valuable relationships.
6. Covet your teammates territory. If they are making quota you should be envious. Try to figure out what they are doing differently than you and replicate for yourself.
7. Don't depend on marketing to manage your pipeline. But, support marketing in order to help your pipeline. You will always be responsible for you.
8. Don't bear false witness to your prospects. Always be genuine.
9. Don't be afraid to kill a sales cycle. Know when its time to walk away.
10. Utilize all of your available resources, but never forget Commandment 3.
And since we don't write on tablets anymore you can print them out and keep them in your back pocket;).
