New Study Shows Mobile Site Use on the Rise

New Study Shows Mobile Site Use on the Rise:

Interesting, yes?
According to a new study by NielsenWire, 60 percent of smartphone users are shopping on the go thanks to their phones’ capability to quickly pull up mobile and m-commerce sites. The study also revealed that mobile sites are still more popular than mobile apps.
Here are a few statistics from the study, conducted from a pool of 5,000 U.S. smartphone users:
  • The top-five retail mobile apps and sites reached nearly 60 percent of smartphone users during the 2011 holiday season (Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, Target, and Walmart)
  • 28 percent of those surveyed accessed the top-five retailers’ mobile apps during the 2011 holiday season (Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, Target, and Walmart)
  • The preference for mobile sites over mobile apps is almost the same among men and women
  • Best Buy was slightly more popular among men while Target and Walmart were slightly more popular among women
As you can see from the study, the importance of having a mobile site is only growing. Bryan Laurienti, co-owner of BBB Systems, notes, “A mobile site gives your customers access to your business info and products 24/7. Regardless of where they are or what time of day it is, they can shop on the go, putting more money in your pocket and increasing customer satisfaction levels. NielsenWire aptly refers to mobile sites as ‘a store in your pocket.’ Don’t miss out on that type of profit potential.”
